Feeling hot, especially at night, is indeed normal for pregnant women. However, you can do the following tips to stay comfortable:
  • Choose clothes made from cotton, linen, or other natural fibers. This type of material allows more air to reach the surface of the skin, making you feel cool. In addition, it is better to choose loose clothing and avoid layers of clothing.
  • Keep the room cool, for example by using a fan or air conditioner (Air Conditioner - AC). Avoid being out of the room for too long when the day feels hot. However, that does not mean you really do not want to leave the room huh!
  • Take a shower more often. That can help you feel refreshed.
  • Immediately wipe the sweat that appears. Treat it by putting a small towel near you, especially when you sleep at night. That way, you can immediately wipe your sweat at any time.
  • Use talc free powder. This type of powder can absorb sweat and prevent prickly heat. Pregnant women can also avoid using moisturizers.
  • Don't forget to drink often! Always carry bottled drinking water. Drink at least 8 glasses of liquid a day. You might need to drink more, if you sweat too much. Staying hydrated can make you feel cool, while preventing you from feeling dizzy and weak when overheated.
Pregnant women, be patient with the discomfort of pregnancy on this one. Try applying the tips above while you are pregnant. Excessive sweating can also happen to mothers who have just given birth, because the body is releasing fluids that have accumulated during pregnancy. If pregnant women feel the condition of excessive sweating is very disturbing or accompanied by other symptoms, do not hesitate to see a doctor.
